About Discipline and Guidance Parent Groups 

Simplicity Parenting Discipline and Guidance Parent Groups bring together small groups of like-minded parents to explore and discover new ways of dealing with the challenges of providing loving but firm discipline and guidance to our children.

The Simplicity Parenting approach to discipline is based on understanding a child’s needs and developmental stages, and seeks to provide guidance through coming together and strengthening a family's values rather than through conflict and punishment.

Parent Groups are led by a Certified Simplicity Parenting Group Leader and are held in person when possible or virtually through interactive video calls, and there are three different classes offered, based on the age of your child: “The First Nine Years,” “The Tween Years (9-13),” and “The Teen Years (14-19).”

In-person classes consist of three gatherings of approximately 2-1/2 hours each. Virtual classes typically consist of more gatherings of shorter length.

Tuition for the classes is $80 EUR, plus a $25 materials fee, and pre-registration is required. (Participant Materials are purchased directly from the Simplicity Parenting Institute. A couple may share a single set of Participant Materials. Limited, need-based tuition scholarships available.)

About Lorena Alina Cavalcanti - Early Years Educator

Hello! My name is Lorena and I am a Certified Simplicity Parenting Discipline and Guidance Group Leader.

After many turns in my life, I became an Early Years Educator, working in nurseries and volunteering in two parent and child groups and, with my local Scouts.

Following some time working in nurseries I started to work as a Teacher Assistant with children with trauma and afterwards became a Learning Mentor. These children were in state school waiting for a placement which was better suited to their needs.

I devoted many years to studying childhood. I have completed courses in Safeguarding, Healthy Development, Sensory Integration, amongst other courses. I have recently finished a course in Emergency Pedagogy aiming to help children and their families to manage difficult and unexpected situations.

As a Learning Mentor, I was led to build partnerships with parents to work with their child. It was a joy to celebrate each and every achievement.

It was at this point that I discovered it was my path (and passion) and there was no turning back! I started to look for something that could give me more tools to help families and I discovered Simplicity Parenting.

I would love to help them to discover…

…that “less is more”. Decluttering your child’s life from too many playdates, too many extra activities, too many toys and too much information can bring freedom and help the child to flourish.

…how to create a rhythm, which will be beneficial for the child and the whole family.
