About Discipline and Guidance Parent Groups

Simplicity Parenting Discipline and Guidance Parent Groups bring together small groups of like-minded parents to explore and discover new ways of dealing with the challenges of providing loving but firm discipline and guidance to our children.

The Simplicity Parenting approach to discipline is based on understanding a child’s needs and developmental stages, and seeks to provide guidance through coming together and strengthening a family's values rather than through conflict and punishment.

Parent Groups are led by a Certified Simplicity Parenting Group Leader and are held in person when possible or virtually through interactive video calls, and there are three different classes offered, based on the age of your child: “The First Nine Years,” “The Tween Years (9-13),” and “The Teen Years (14-19).”

In-person classes consist of three gatherings of approximately 2-1/2 hours each. Virtual classes typically consist of more gatherings of shorter length.

Tuition for the classes is $89 AUD each plus a $38 materials fee, and pre-registration is required. (Participant Materials are purchased directly from the Simplicity Parenting Institute. A couple may share a single set of Participant Materials.)

If you'd like to be informed when the next class opens up, please fill out the form below to add your name to our interest list, and indicate which class you’re interested in. We’ll let you know as soon as registration opens.

About Linda Ramsden, BA DipEd (Primary), PGDipEChild

Hello. I’m Linda. I’m a Certified Simplicity Parenting Discipline and Guidance Group Leader. I am mother to a beautiful adult daughter, and I have qualifications in Primary Teaching and Early Childhood Education (including Steiner Early Childhood Education). I have over 25 years experience in working with children, including 7 years as a primary school teacher and 20 years as co-owner of a child care centre for 0-5 year olds. My other hats include Transpersonal Art Therapist and Meditation Teacher.

I am passionate about the holistic care and education of children, especially about creating harmonious and happy home environments where every family member can thrive, and now that I have raised my daughter to adulthood, I feel the call to give back to my community by supporting fellow parents on this amazing, life-changing journey called ‘Parenthood.’ The Simplicity Parenting Discipline & Guidance Group Leader Training has provided me with a wonderful forum to do just this.

Through the simple, doable strategies offered in the Discipline and Guidance Group, I can help you…

  • Build a strong foundation upon which to create positive change in your home.
  • Learn some simple techniques to provide warm, nurturing, firm and calm guidance for your children.
  • Build your confidence in your role as a parent, especially with regard to directing your child’s behaviour.
  • Offer a structure to help you grow as a parent, alongside your child, as they move through the different stages of development.
  • Create a network of supportive people to share the journey of parenting with you.
  • Take some simple steps to create more harmony and ease in your home, so you can better connect with and enjoy your children.

I look forward to meeting you.

About The Soul of Discipline

In this groundbreaking material, parenting expert and acclaimed author of the bestselling book Simplicity Parenting, Kim John Payne, M.Ed., flips the script on children’s challenging or defiant behavior and lays out an elegantly simple plan to support parents in establishing loving, age-sensitive boundaries that help children feel safe and settled.

Payne gives parents heartwarming help and encouragement by combining astute observations with sensitive and often funny stories from his long career as a parent educator and a school and family counselor.

Practical and rooted in common sense, The Soul of Discipline gives parents permission to be warm and nurturing but also calm and firm (not overreactive). It gives clear, doable strategies to get things back on track for parents who sense that their children’s behavior has fallen into a troubling pattern.

Best of all, it provides healthy direction to the entire family so parents can spend less time and energy on outmoded, punitive discipline and more on connecting with and enjoying their kids.
